The Camino is an alternating experience: but lest anyone feel it’s one big party: let me correct you.
Poor sleep in crowded bunkie rooms…snoring, farting, moving, and getting up early. The occasional private room is a must to maintain sanity.
Feet are really a problem. A low grade pain of 4 (10 scale) all day. Walking 25 km ish min every day. Did I mention we walk all day every day.
Never knowing if you will get a bed or be told to keep walking… yes this year is a problem. Very many hikers.
A massive bad cold swept through getting alot of people sick
Food can be great if you look for it. Generally we eat the pilgrim meals… some pork sliced or chicken and fries with maybe some salad. Try eating that week after week. I never got full until yesterday when I ate two meals. We burn alot of calories
Scenery can be the same day after day. By that I mean: fantastic views and of course the meseta which we are just finishing. 5 days and 140km.
Lots of walking on busy roads in cities.
Missing your family…
It’s definitely not a vacation: it’s a purpose and an endurance and of course fantastic and life changing.
You are doing so good! The pain is worth it. I’m so proud of you.
The snoring, farting, moving around, getting up early can be done in our house too! Amazing trip, 300 km left to go…you got it…a piece of cake. 🎂
