2500 meters. The elevation makes the air thin enough to feel when you are ascending with a pack, working hard. we breathed really hard. So maybe 50 steps then a 30 second rest.
Parts were steep, basically a scramble. We crossed water , snow and did I mention it was steep.
We walked uphill for 6 hours. Maybe a tiny bit of flat but nothing to speak of.
A lot of people were using crampons but they were not Canadians…prob from a snow free zone.
Tomorrow we go higher. About 2700 meters. Not that much more but it’s a different environment again. It’s a variant called Col des fours. Most don’t do this climb but we will try. Weather should be good. Some advised against it because there was too much snow. We will find out.
Enjoy the pictures. It’s breathtaking out here. Everywhere you look is fantastic
Oh, and we actually saw a golden eagle fly by the land near the hut we r staying at. Massive bird.
